(Ed: Hello hello! Following our little post on ‘tchoukball 101‘, we have Marck Anthonny from the Singapore National Tchoukball Team in an exclusive 1-on-1 interview.)
E: Tell us about yourself.
M: My name is Marck Anthonny, currently schooling in Ping Yi Secondary. 18 years of age. I enjoy playing sports and I dislike humid days.
E: Explain tchoukball in 10 words or less.
M: This game is more interesting and more dynamic than others.
E: Explain tchoukball in 8 words (to your grandmother).
M: Ball game played by seven people on court.
E: Tell us what tchoukball is to you in 6 words.
M: Injury free, gentlemen-like, fun, dynamic
E: How did you get started on this sport?
M: School event – Rezal (Ping Yi Sec teacher) brought in Italy Tchoukball Federation Chiara and a Italian female player to introduce the sport to us. This was for CIP hours so I had to go.
E: How did your friends/ family react when they knew you are a tchoukball national
player?
M: Friends reacted normally because they know I’m very into the sport, while my family, especially my aunties were proud of me.
E: Why tchoukball? What is it about tchoukball that attracts you?
M: Tchoukball is a very fun game which requires a 7-a-side-play. I enjoy team sports very much. Tchoukball is a whole new sport which is very different from others. Very “gentlemen” like.
E: How are you different now because of tchoukball?
M: I’m a happier person because team mates often makes things interesting.
E: What other sports do you played/ have to played before? How is tchuokball different
from them?
M: Basketball, bowling, soccer. Not much difference because it is still a physically and mentally demanding game.
E: How do you juggle your life (school, friends, family, personal time) and your
commitment to tchoukball?
M: Basically friends are mainly team mates from school on a national team. Juggling between training and studies was hard initially because I had a bad time with planning my time.
E: Describe a typical day in your life (don’t miss out any details!).
M: School from morning till late. Nothing much.
E: Where do you hang out when you’re not training?
M: School? Home?
E: What was the last book you read? What was the last CD you bought?
M: My quiet time materials. I don’t buy CDs.
E: What is your favourite singer/ actor/ book.
M: Corrinne May, Hillsong (they inspire me)
E: Complete these sentences

a) Tchoukball has made me happier.
b) My greatest sacrifice for tchoukball is time.
