I have recently watched the movie Nim’s Island a few days ago, and I must say, it really is only suitable for innocent children to appreciate. This movie is basically about a girl called Nim, who lives on a secluded island with her scientist father, who goes missing one day. Afraid, she calls upon the author of her favourite adventure series, Alexandra Rover, who Nim thinks to be the actual adventurer herself. However, in real life, Alexandra is actually a San Francisco writer, afraid of leaving the comfort of her own home. This story focuses on overcoming fears with moral courage and building a close bond. While the storyline seems like an average children’s adventure flick, there are a few discrepancies in the facts. Email? In a secluded island foreign to tourists? Tourists known as pirates to Nim? The fluffy story just doesn’t seem possible in the sophisticated after-world of childhood we now live.
