BFF
As you all know, Valentine’s Day is coming. Couples are preparing gifts, flowers, candies and whatever “sweet” things they can. But what about the rest of us, who are single or don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day? What are we supposed to do then?
Fear not.
Did you know that schools celebrate International Friendship Day, usually on the third working Friday of Term 2? It’s just a day to commemorate friendships, with your friends, and on a national level, it’s a day dedicated to the understanding of Singapore relations with neighbouring countries and beyond. Thus, the term “International”.
And no one is too old or too young to celebrate “Friendship Day”. Back when I was still in school, I remember receiving self-made friendship bands, cards, cool SMSs from friends. And I’d return the favour by making them craft gifts - personalized ones of course. Now, as adults, my friends and I don’t make gifts for one another anymore, but we meet up for coffee to catch up, or just SMS one another friendly greetings.
Well, friends are important people in a person’s life, and you just have to appreciate them. So why not get started? The library has a lot of craft books that you can get ideas from. And hey, you get to save money by making gifts, instead of buying them. Hoorah!
Let me end off with a quote:
“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.” - Bernard Meltzer -
P.S.: By the way, in case you’re wondering, BFF stands for “Best Friends Forever”. And remember to check out Kathleen’s latest read “Till we meet again” - a friendship fiction. Kathleen is one of our young bloggers.
