Live Earth @ VAT
LIVE Earth Live at the library!
Saturday, 26 April 2008, 2.00-5.00pm
VAT, Level 4, Jurong Regional Library
We had our very own LIVE earth concert last Saturday! 2 local bands; Sunset Boulevard and J.DA (or better known as Danielle on screen) rocked VAT at JRL!! The concert started with Sunset Boulevard wowing us twice with their vocals and performances. They may be young and the band has been together for only 3 years but that didn’t stop them for giving us an awesome performance (I mean, performances). That was just what we needed to kickstart the entire event. All on the right note. J.DA gave us such an incredible performance to end the event and kept the audience hooked for more! And we had our 2 DJs, Darrick and Magdalene from RadioHeatwave, Ngee Ann Polytechnic to host the whole show.
Of course to tie-up with the environmental theme (we are celebrating LIVE Earth, after all) we had some cool stuff happening that day. We had re-creation stuff using magazine paper which transformed into beautiful weaved baskets, vases and penholders.
We had a badge design corner. Lots of youths created their own personal messages especially for the Earth.
Another cool stuff is nail art which is a must for our youths! Even the guys went for this one.
We had students from Beauty Therapy, ITE who entertained all with their nail painting expertise. They are participants of the Worldskills Competition 2008, by the way.
Oh, we also had an electronic message board. It’s the first time we are having this board for our public programme. Lots of messages came in with positive comments for the band performances.
For those who already know about VAT and just what we have in store for youths at the library, you’ll hang around with us. For those who just know, shake away the mindset you have about libraries being a quiet place meant just for studying. Now you know we don’t only have librarians working at the library, ha!
