Sep Pseudo Book Club: Fantasy

(Ed’s notes: We had a ’stomach-cramping laughter-inducing’ session on fantasy last Saturday. Have a look at what Beverly has to say about the session. Magic and dragons included.)

Held by teens on the third Saturday of every month, the pseudo book club engages young adults to share their personal views with regards to a particular theme.
Within a few minutes, we broke the ice by playing simple name games. There after, groups of three to four were formed and we took part in interesting activities which included games such as ‘Charades’ and ‘Taboo’ with topics that were related to our genre of the week – Fantasy. We even managed to create our very own short story from random clip arts. We discussed about our favourite fantasy books and had a great time. This allows the participants to experience and learn more about the imaginary world of Fantasy.

Even though the session was only held for an hour, both the facilitators and participants had an exciting time and learnt what the world of Fantasy is able to give readers. Through this experience, we realized that reading and learning is indeed an enthralling journey that people from all walks of life should actively participate in. It also encourages more young adults to find their inner self through reading books.

“A long long time ago, there was a brave knight called Bangalar. One day he found a very magical and beautiful wand. He was so attracted to the wand that he accidentally cast a spell on himself and became a dragon. Then he became evil and bad and started breathing fire everywhere! Everyone hated his presence.”

“Blue the wizard came to earth in a UFO and wanted to destroy all the bats. To his astonishment, the bats entertained him. So taking pity on them, he turned them into mermaids instead and flew back in his UFO.”

Awesome! I envy you. I would like to do similar things with my friends, but I never had any friends with the same interest in fantasy than me.

    Greetings.

  5. Lea Says:

Or just start your own fantasy book club. Maybe you find a library near you where they are intersted in it and put a post at the door.

I assure you will find some book friends too because the teens in europe like fantasy too. I can tell it from my experience of library work in switzerland. :-)

  6. LBM Dragon Ball Says:

    Hi Li Sa and Lea.

Thank you for the invitation. I have this blog added to my favorites, and I will visit it in the future.

The reason I found you, is because I am very interested in Manga, Anime, Cartoon, Role playing games and Fantasy since I was a kid, and I were looking for Role and Fantasy sites in Google. Obviously, I usually look for spanish sites, but sometimes I like to look for english sites :)
