Special NLB Twilight Soiree – Discussion 2
Blood. It smells like rust… and salt.
“Honestly – I’ve seen corpses with better colour. I was concerned that I might have to avenge your murder.”
“Poor Mike. I’ll bet he’s mad.”
“He absolutely loathes me,” Edward said cheerfully.
“You can’t know that,” I argued, but then I wondered suddenly if he could.
“I saw his face – I could tell.”
“How did you see me? I thought you were ditching,” I was almost fine now, though the queasiness would probably pass faster if I’d eat something for lunch. On the other hand, maybe it was lucky my stomach was empty.
“I was in my car, listening to a CD,” Such a normal response – it surprised me.
I heard the door and opened my eyes to see the nurse with a cold compress in her hand.
“Here you go, dear,” She laid it across my forehead. “You’re looking better,” she added.
“I think I’m fine,” I said, sitting up. Just a little ringing in my ears, no spinning. The mint green walls stayed where they should.
I could see she was about to make me lie back down, but the door opened just then, and Ms. Cope stuck her head in.
“We’ve got another one,” she warned.
I hopped down to free up the cot for the next invalid.
I handed the compress back to the nurse. “Here, I don’t need this.”
And then Mike staggered through the door, now supporting a sallow-looking Lee Stephens, another boy in our Biology class. Edward and I drew back against the wall to give them room.
“Oh no,” Edward muttered. “Go out to the office, Bella.”
I looked up at him bewildered.
“Trust me – go.”
I spun and caught the door before it closed, darting out of the infirmary. I could feel Edward right behind me.
“You actually listened to me.” He was stunned.
“I smelled the blood,” I said, wrinkling my nose. Lee wasn’t sick from watching other people, like me.
“People can’t smell blood,” he contradicted.
“Well, I can – that’s what makes me sick. It smells like rust… and salt.”

Do you feel queasy around blood?

December 3rd, 2008 at 4:46 pm
It depends. I mean, I won’t exactly faint like Bella. But, I can’t be in the presence of large amount of blood.
Another note, I can taste the “rust” or as I like to say it “metal-taste” in the blood.

I don’t really feel queasy around blood. I experience blood everyday. I have a habit of peeling my lip skin and blood will ooze out but I don’t seem to feel queasy. It’s like a habit to me. Furthermore, blood is in our body so we should not be feeling queasy at the sight of blood.

I don’t feel queasy around blood. It really doen’t bother me. Neither does the taste. It has a copper taste and smell, but amazingly, it doesn’t bother ne at all. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that i like the taste, but i aslo don’t dislike it. No, i don’t drink blood. i happen to bite my lip and then ot bleeds. Trying to remove the dead skin, thats all.

i do sometimes feel queasy around blood. There’s one time my friend fell down and blood was oozing and gushing out from his knee.It looked quite gross. There was a lot of blood.I do smell the blood.
It smells a bit metal-ish.But nevertheless,i wouldn’t be fainting like Bella. My face would just look pale and white.

No, I don’t really feel queasy at the sight of blood. And, I don’t think I should. Because if I want to grow up to be a gynaecologist, I should not fear blood because I am going to see it quite often. And, blood is found in our body. I don’t see the need to feel queasy at the sight of something that is already inside us. Do y’all see my point?

It’s OK. As a biology student, dissections involve some amount of blood. And of course, I’m trained in first aid so I deal with blood every once in a while. It’s just a matter of getting used to it.

I thought I am perfectly ok with it- that I am not going to be affected by a mere blood! Ya Right! I was cutting some veggies in a hurry because I was already running late and WhiSSh! I cut myself with a very sharp knife. With the flow of the very first drop, I understood what the phrase “I just went cold” meant and felt drained and instantly felt wuzzy.

I’m not queasy on the sight of blood, but turn queasy upon gore stuffs.
