HB Squad ALERT! . gossip + snippets
This may be old news but I just heard today. Bestselling Fantasy author Robert Jordan passed away on the 16th of Sep, 2007. Seems like we’ve lost quite a number of notable authors this year…
I don’t claim to be a fan, but as a librarian, I do know that his mega epic Wheel of Time series is widely read, and he will be missed by his many fans. As the series is still uncomplete (it’s already gone on for 11 books + 1 prequel so far, the 12th unfinished novel was said to be the last), I’m wondering who, if anyone, would be likely to finish it?
Robert Jordan was a pen name for James Oliver Rigney, Jr and other than the Wheel of Time books, he also wrote novels featuring Conan the barbarian (eg Conan the Destroyer).

This is news! I was under the impression he wasn’t that old. In fact, just learned he was 59. First thought was also, “What’s going to happen to the Wheel of Time series?”

From some news articles, I understand that he had already started work on the 12th and final book and had told his son about the storyline. We’ll just have wait and see if his son actually goes ahead and completes writing the final book - just like Christopher Tolkien finishing his dad’s book.
Apparently, he also wrote the ‘Fallon’ trilogy under the pseudonym “Reagan O’Neal” in his earlier years as an author.
