It’s BACK! From 25 May to 5 Aug 2006, we’re hoping that you’ll Read! Singapore! Sorry, that was my sad attempt in being Pun-ny. Here’s more on What is READ! Singapore

… do you have a better idea now? The folks at Bookish Clubbers certainly do! They’ve started their own book club and chose their first read to be from the READ! Singapore selection. As we say in Singlish: “Steady lah!

I hope you’re now saying: “I’m interested. How do I take part?”

Easy (there are no strict rules, this is a guideline):

  • Get a friend, or friends
  • Decide on the book(s) to read
  • Read the book(s)
  • Arrange to discuss the book(s) — suggested discussion points available from these Resource Kits

You can choose to meet face-to-face, or you may set up your blog or website, or discuss via email, or SMS — whatever works for you! You are not even required to read the entire book if you don’t want to. Your group could agree on certain chapters to read.

If you can’t find another person to discuss or to form a group, you could also contact your nearest public library and join the activities they’ve organised. There are plenty of events that will appeal to the young and old. Here’s the link to the calendar view (PDF).

If you feel like it, do email us a photo of your discussion or a summary of your discussion – we’ll post them in High Browse Online.

We’ll be providing regular READ! Singapore updates at High Browse Online, so bookmark us or subscribe to our feed feed-icon_small.png .

Oh, remember to make a date with us for our Online Book Chats.
