Baybeats Band Profile: Abuse the Youth (THA)
Voted “Best New Band” at Thailand’s Headbanger 2008 and nominated for “Best Newcomer” at this year’s prestigious Fat Radio Awards, Abuse the Youth, formed in 2006, and comprising Mick (guitar, vocals) Ju (drums) and Toonz (bass) from Bangkok, delivers songs of love and loss, hope and despair with a powerful guitar-driven sound that draws fans from both the indie and metal scenes.
The group’s resonance with indie kids and metal heads was most evident at Thailand’s Fat Festival 2007 where the band’s music drew a huge crowd. Its growing popularity has seen the group playing shows in Malaysia as well as touring across Thailand with 100 Rock and Mind the Gap in addition to regular performances in Bangkok.
This year sees the band back in the studio recording its eagerly-awaited debut album after the release of its well-received Accidental EPidemic six-track EP in 2007.
