Baybeats 08 Band Profile: The Lucksmiths (AUS)
The Lucksmiths set foot in a bayside suburb of Melbourne back in the early 90s, and the band has since survived high school, university, several world tours, and most recently, their Saturn Returning years to continue beguiling audiences with their songs of modern front-porch romance. Mark, Louis, Tali and Marty are your boys, with straight-through-the-heart melodies and a jangly guitar or two.
2007 saw the release of the Spring a Leak compilation (a double-CD of B-sides and rarities spanning The Lucksmiths’ career) on the band’s own self-run label Lost And Lonesome, and an album of new material is set for release in late 2008.
